Stars Tattoo - An Introduction to Tattoos

The origin of tattoo is very interesting. In the start, sailors
travelling in the pacific usually gave themselves tattoos. From there it
started to be introduced in Europe and other places. Some people say
that the history of tattoo goes back to the old Egyptian era, about 6000
years ago. Tattoos have also been found on many mummies dating about
2000 B.C.
Almost every culture in history has tattooed themselves for various
reasons. Either they were a mark of pride or spirituality or as a symbol
of strength and history.
Many cultures did not permit women to get tattooed due to their own
customs. There are other cultures though which permitted men and women
to both get tattooed. The Japanese used to tattoo criminals so that they
could be identified. In 1876, the first electric tattoo machine was
invented by Thomas Edison. This was actually an electric engraver but
started being used as a tattoo machine. This was the start; later many
developments in tattoo machines were made making them more advanced and
modern.
The machine used for tattoos today was patented by Charlie Wagner. This
machine was especially made for the purpose of engraving tattoos.
In 1960, many states of US banned tattoos after a hepatitis outbreak. It
then became a “hot” symbol for criminals, sailors, gangsters and people
from different occults. Today, tattoos are accepted in nearly all
societies. They are considered modern as well as a symbol of fashion.
Many professional shops are seen in almost every town or city which has
thousands of different designs from which a person can choose a design
of their choice. They can even draw something which they like and
request the tattoo artist to make that on their skin. With the
advancement in technology, tattoos have gone past the stage of shame and
embarrassment but are considered as a real piece of art. |
